How to identify the points on the patient

Identifying the points refers to the following operations:

The operation of identifying the points on the patient is extremely important to obtain good results.

It must be performed in the most precise way as even small positioning mistakes can lead to significant mistakes in the skeleton drawing.

Prior to photo acquisition, it is advisable to use any skin-marking technique on the patient, for easy identification of the points on the photo itself at a later stage.

For instance, special adhesive labels or a special marking pen can be used for this purpose.

Vertebrae points

The points of the vertebrae to identify are those corresponding to the extremity of the spinous process: this way, identification on the patient's skin is made easier as this is the outer part of the vertebra.

All calculations relevant to the position, rotations and dimensions of each vertebra are based on the position of the spinous process.
