The interface between the computer and a device like PoData or CervicalTest can be schematically illustrated as follows:
GPS <<==>> SiUSBXp.dll <<==>> USBXPress driver <<==>> PoData o CervicalTest
Where:
Name |
Description |
GPS |
The GPS software |
SiUSBXp.dll |
The interface .dll between the GPS and the USBXPress driver. The .dll is specific to the GPS software and is located in the same folder as the GPS software |
USBXPress driver |
The interface driver for USBXPress devices such as PoData and CervicalTest. This driver is not specific to the GPS software, and is located in the Windows drivers folder (the driver is made up of a number of files, the main one being SiUSBXp.sys) |
PoData or CervicalTest |
The PoData or CervicalTest device |
Compatibility between the GPS and SiUSBXp.dll
The compatibility between the GPS and SiUSBXp.dll is certain because SiUSBXp.dll is installed by the GPS installation package and so its compatibility is checked during production of the GPS software.
Compatibility between SiUSBXp.dll and the USBXPress driver
The USBXPress driver is installed for the first time it has never been installed on the PC before, but is not updated during subsequent installations of new GPS versions (see Installing the USBXPress driver)
Generally the driver does not need to be updated (see Updating the driver USBXPress)
Compatibility between SiUSBXp.dll and the USBXPress driver is not critical and the interface has not detected problems even with old versions of the driver.
However, the driver must be version 2.1 or later, that is a version equal to or later than that supplied via the GPS software DVD
